Brief Encounter - Katie Chevis

Katie Chevis is the Welfare and Equal Opportunities Sabbatical Officer for the Students' Union. Her role involves being the first port of call for student enquiries.  She coordinates a number of campaigns about issues that students will be better off for knowing; for example safe sex, responsible drinking and effective house hunting.  It is her responsibility to ensure that equal opportunities are upheld. She also deal with students case work and represent the Union in a number of university committees.

Warwick Farewell - Dr Bob Powell

Dr Bob Powell is to retire from his post as Director of the Language Centre on 31 December this year. Bob had been in post since 1993 and saw the Centre through a period of significant growth.  His successor is Evan Stewart.  Evan, who was Academic Team Leader for Languages and International Studies at Nottingham Trent University will take up the post on 1 January.

University Appoints Interim Director of IT Services

Daryl Hindmarsh has been appointed Interim Director of IT Services. He will join the University on Monday and formally take up the role following Rosemary Gilmore’s retirement at Christmas.

Steph Wongsam is the Societies and Student Development Officer. She oversees the 185+ societies at Warwick, supports and advises society execs, and promotes student development opportunities.
