Warwick People - Benita Parry
Benita Parry, Honorary Professor in the Department of English and Comparative Literary Studies, is to be awarded an honorary degree from the University of York at their Summer Degree Ceremony. Professor Parry has been a leading figure in the field of the empire and post-colonialism and has been in the process of developing an MA in Cultures of Empire, Resistance, and Postcoloniality with York's Department of English and Related Literature.
Warwick People - Jamie Darwen
Jamie Darwen, Project Manager for Warwick Volunteers, has been elected as Chair for 2006-07 of Workers in Student Community Volunteering (WiSCV). WiSCV is a national network of around 250 members, which aims to share information, promote good practice, and provide opportunities for training and development, for staff who manage or support student volunteering projects.
Warwick People - Geoff Lindsay
Professor Geoff Lindsay, from the Centre for Educational Development, Appraisal and Research (CEDAR), has been awarded honorary life membership of the British Psychological Society. Professor Lindsay has worked for the society for nearly 30 years, playing a pivotal role in the society's push towards statutory regulation. He has served as the society's president and honorary treasurer, while sitting on the society's council for 20 years.
Warwick People - Professor Julian Gardner
Professor Julian Gardner, Dean of the School of Engineering, has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering. Professor Gardner's research interests are microsensors, microsystems technology, electronic noses, intelligent sensors and multivariate data processing methods.
Steve Dixon & Rachel Edwards Win John Grimwade Medal
Dr Steve Dixon, Senior Lecturer in Physics and Head of the Ultrasonics Research Group, and Dr Rachel Edwards a Researcher in the Ultrsonics Group, have been awarded the 2005 John Grimwade Medal by the British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing.
