IStructE's (Institution of Structural Engineers) prestigious Gold Medal for 2006 has been awarded to Professor Roger Johnson, FREng MA FIStructE FICE, Emeritus Professor of Civil Engineering.
Obituary - Robert Gernhardt
Robert Gernhardt, the German department's Writer in Residence for 2006, has died. Gernhardt had undertaken his last official trip at the beginning of May to teach for a week at the University. He had been proud to report that his visit had witnessed the successful translation into English of fifteen of his poems, and that they had moved the students to raucous laughter.
National Teaching Fellowship awarded to David Morley
David Morley, Senior Lecturer and Director of the Warwick Writing Programme, has been awarded a prestigious National Teaching Fellowship from the Higher Education Academy. The National Teaching Fellowship Scheme (NTFS), which launched in 2000 and is sponsored by The Guardian, recognises and rewards teachers and learning support staff in higher education in England and Northern Ireland for their excellence in teaching.
