Prestigious Award for Italian Academic
Dr Carlo Caruso, from the Department of Italian, was awarded a prestigious literary prize in Italy this summer. Dr Caruso was awarded the Premio Lerici Pea 2005 for his work in the fields of translation and literary criticism.

Dr Ritaban Dutta from the School of Engineering has been awarded the Best Post-Doctoral Entrepreneurship Award 2005 by The Siemens Technology-to-Business Center in California.
CLL Associate Fellow writes report for DfES
Associate Fellow of the Centre for Lifelong Learning, John Berkeley OBE, has written a report for the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) entitled 'Listening to the work-based Learner'. The report includes details of the development and piloting of an online feedback system created for SEMTA, the Sector Skills Council for science, engineering & manufacturing technologies. Its findings and recommendations are applicable in any sector and to any training providers.
Brief Encounter - Gabriel Siles-Brugge
Gabriel is the new Undergraduate Social Studies Faculty Rep. His role entails sitting on the Academic Representation Committee, a couple of important Faculty Boards, the Library Student-Staff Liaison Committee, and Union Council. He also coordinates the SSLC system throughout the entire Faculty.
