Academic Wins Top Law Prize

Dr Francis Botchway from the School of Law recently won the Willoughby Prize 2004 for his article on 'Privatisation and State Control - The Case of the Ashanti Goldfields Company'. His feature was published in a special issue of the International Bar Association's Journal of Energy and Natural Resources Law. Dr Botchway also co-edited the special edition on energy and natural resources in Africa in which his article appeared.

John Dons His Tracksuit for Kids Charity

Those of you who know John Cunnington, the University’s Senior Warden, may have been surprised to see him out of his customary suit and tie for a day last month.

John raised over £1000 for the children’s charity Get Kids Going! by being sponsored for spending an entire working day in a tracksuit.

Bernard Capp and Colin Crouch: FBAs

Two Warwick academics have been elected as Fellows of the British Academy, the national academy for the humanities and the social sciences.

Professor Bernard Capp, from the Department of History, and Professor Colin Crouch, from the Warwick Business School are both joining the Fellowship this year.

E-Learning Consultant Cycles Coast to Coast

Stuart Sutherland, an e-learning consultant in the MBA Learning Resources Development Unit at Warwick Business School, recently undertook a 146 mile coast-to-coast cycle ride from Whitehaven on the West coast to Tynmouth on the East. The ride was in aid of Nurse Learning - a charity set up to help develop the online learning resource http://www.cancernursing.org/ - and the aim was to raise cash and awareness of the online courses the site provides.
