Warwick Professor Wins Literary Award
Professor Jonathan Bate, from the Department of English and Comparative Literary Studies, has won the prestigious James Tait Black Memorial Prize for biography for his book on poet John Clare. John Clare: A Biography is an account of the life of the early 19th century poet, who died in a lunatic asylum.
Student Wins First Prize in National Essay Competition
Olly Hopwood, a second-year student of French and German Studies, has won first prize in a national essay competition sponsored by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) and the German Embassy and judged by an Anglo-German panel led by BBC reporter Brian Hanrahan.
Honorary Degree for Law Professor
Professor Hugh Beale of the Law Department is to be awarded an Honorary degree from the University of Antwerp on 27 May.

Janet Jones, Administrative Officer in the Department of Biological Sciences, was presented with an MBE from the Queen earlier this year.
