Brief Encounter - Manish Maisuria

Manish Maisuria is Departmental Administrator for the Departments of Philosophy and Psychology, which he describes as being like "an all-in-one entertainer and right-hand person."

Manish MaisuriaFavourite phrase: "Cool!"

Least favourite phrase: Would you be able to do this… by yesterday?

Magazines read: The Week.

As a young child what did you want to be as a "grown-up"? Knightrider. I thank myself everyday that I didn’t pursue this fantasy. Besides, I don’t think a silver Corsa would make a very good ‘Kit’.

Now that you are grown-up what would be your "dream job"? To be an artist.

Lifelong ambition: To always do stuff I enjoy. And to meet Five Star.

People are always surprised to learn this about me, but...I’m training in classical Indian vocals – I’m not talking to myself as I walk along, I’m singing.

Major achievement to date? Singing to packed audiences and getting into Cambridge! Oh and becoming a father of two. (Little kittens).

What has life's experience taught you so far? Not to get too affected by the weirdness of humanity.

What do you treasure most? My Five Star records.

Any hidden talents? I paint. And did I mention singing?

Best thing about working at Warwick: The sheer professionalism of staff here.

Worst thing about working at Warwick: The traffic queues. I’ve grown a beard by the time I’ve got into my department(s).

If you could change one thing in the University overnight, what would it be? To lay down another road to the University, that bypasses all other traffic.

Which person inspires you most, and why? Sai Baba – small in stature yet a person of great superlative wisdom.

Your all-time favourite record or piece of music? Too many to mention! I do like the music from the last advert for Motorola mobile phones – the one where everything folds up into itself.

Career path Anywhere that leads to fame and fortune. Actually, without the fame.
