In Memoriam: David Montgomery
David Montgomery, a US labour historian who taught at Warwick in the 1960s, has died aged 84 of a brain haemorrhage.
David Montgomery was known for approaching the study of capitalism through workers' experiences. He had a longstanding connection with Britain. From 1967 until 1969, he taught at Warwick, where, with EP Thompson, he helped to establish the Centre for the Study of Social History. He later taught American History at the University of Oxford.
