Vasilios Stavros, Associate Professor, and Nick Barker, Outreach Officer, both from the Department of Chemistry, recently returned from outreach in Georgia. Together with their US collaborator, Professor Susanne Ullrich, they visited local schools delivering Nick Barker's famous 'Flashes and Bangs' lecture.
This highly successful project stemmed from a joint NSF/EPSRC grant for international collaboration in Chemistry between US investigators and their counterparts abroad. As part of the grant, a large portion of time and money was put aside to visit schools to talk to children about how fun science can be.
