Herman Coetzee

The University is saddened to report the death of Herman Coetzee who was an employee of BOTEC (Botswana Technology Centre) and a PhD student in Engineering at Warwick. He was due to finish his doctorate in 2011 on solar thermal chimney power, a topic of great importance to Botswana. He died on 5 December on the day after his return to Botswana to work on his experimental rig.

Engineering Senior Teaching Fellow Dr Colin Oram said "Herman was an excellent student, quiet, thorough and pains-taking. He had been diagnosed with a serious health condition, but he accepted this with his usual stoicism and good humour. We will all miss him badly."

A book of condolence is available in the Chaplaincy for anyone who would like to leave a message.
