Dr Justine Mercer, Institute of Education, has been awarded a BERA (British Educational Research Association) Meeting of Minds Fellowship to work with Professor Howard Stevenson of Lincoln University on a piece of small-scale research investigating industrial relations in Higher Education.
This is an under-researched area but one of considerable strategic importance at the current time, given the likely consequences of the Browne Report on university funding and the Comprehensive Spending Review. Last year, Justine co-authored a book entitled Human Resource Management in Education: contexts, themes and impact, and has published a number of articles on HRM in Higher Education.
Dr Mercer said:
"This is a very exciting development for both of us, and we are delighted that our respective areas of expertise have been recognized in this way."
