Michael McLeod

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Michael McLeod on 2 September 2008. Michael was a Fellow at the Centre for Caribbean Studies and the Centre for Research in Ethnic Relations from the 1980s until 2004.

As Director of the Caribbean Business Unit he undertook research for the British Government on the relationship between Caribbean exports and the British market. He acted as an Advisor to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office on Caribbean Trade issues. Among his publications were Ethnic Trade and the Inner Cities (1990) and Black and Minority Ethnic Voluntary and Community Organisations (2001; with David Owen and Chris Khamis).

Mike McLeod was a graduate of Brunel University and obtained his MBA from City University. Before moving to Warwick he spent several years in Jamaica teaching economics, and working in the voluntary sector.

He died, aged 57, on 2 September 2008.
