It is with great regret we have to announce the death of Miss Joan Browne, the founding Principal of Coventry College of Education, forerunner of the Warwick Institute of Education.

Miss Browne played a vital role in post-war teacher education and she remained in post from 1948 until 1975.

A special event to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of teacher education at the University was held on 17 May 2008. Baroness Morris (BEd 1970-74) was the VIP guest and almost 150 alumni from 1948 to the present day attended the event.
