Obituary - Professor John Eggleston

Emeritus Professor John Eggleston, educationist and publisher, died on 12 December 2001, aged 75.

Professor Eggleston did a great deal of work at the forefront of design and technology studies, work that fundamentally changed the educational experience in this subject. As well as editing a journal for practitioners, he co-founded and chaired the judges of the Young Electronic Designer of the Year award and was vice-chairman of the Design and Technology Association. Professor Eggleston also made significant contributions to the work on racial equality in education and to the sociology of teaching.
