The University has today announced the appointment of Warwick HRI’s new Director. Dr Simon Bright will take over from Professor Brian Thomas on 1 July 2004, Brian will be Acting Director from 1 April.

Dr Bright is currently Head of Technology Interaction at Syngenta - the world’s largest agribusiness company. He is a member of the strategy board of the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), and he serves on the editorial board of the journal Current Opinion in Plant Science. One of his main areas of expertise is in the use of biotechnology and genomics in crops and he has particular experience of managing technology transfer from research to business application.
