Warwick People - Professor Roger Burridge

Roger practised as a Barrister in London and in Newham Rights Centre, a community law centre.

He is Director of the UK Centre for Legal Education and the School's Legal Proceedings Training unit, which provides investigative and prosecution training for enforcement agencies, particularly the Health and Safety Executive.

He teaches on the Law in Practice programme and Legal Action and Social Justice as part of the postgraduate Law in Development programme.

He is co-author of a number of studies of the regulation of housing conditions, and Environmental Health Standards in Housing, and co-editor of Effective Learning and Teaching in Law and Unhealthy Housing: Research Remedies and Reforms.

His research interests are in legal education in development, the practice of human rights, law and geography, law and the housing environment, and the role and practices of lawyers, with a particular interest in advocacy.

Janet Jones, of Biological Sciences, was also awarded an MBE for services to Higher Education and the Community in Coventry.
