Life before Warwick:
International marketing for a large US-based company working mainly in the automotive aftermarket, then business development in the US and Asia for a much smaller Italian business.
Smartest career move:
Teaching myself to touch type when I was a schoolboy intent on a future in journalism. That didn’t happen, but the ubiquity of the keyboard makes this a really useful skill in any job.
Best thing about working at Warwick:
Congenial, bright, highly motivated people working in a very pleasant environment.
Worst thing about working at Warwick:
The IT system is taking a little getting used to.
Lifelong ambition:
To find the make of golf ball that goes where it’s meant to, as opposed to anywhere it damn well pleases.
People are always surprised to learn this about me, but...
I’ve slept through live performances of The Who. Twice.
What has life's experience taught you so far?
No matter how high or fast you can fly solo, you can always be higher and faster as part of a high-performing team. And it’s more fun.
Major achievement to date?
Never having damaged a car. (More by luck than judgement, it has to be said).
Any hidden talents?
If I have, they are yet to surface.
If you could change one thing in the University overnight, what would it be?
Bring back Starbucks.
Which person inspires you most, and why?
Mandela – for his fortitude, faith, stamina, humour, forgiveness, lack of bitterness and countless other extraordinary personal attributes. And for putting up with the Spice Girls.
