Dr Dennis Leech, Reader in the Economics Department, was recently invited to talk to the European Parliament in Brussels. The Economic and Monetary Affairs committee are currently undertaking work on the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank and invited Dr Leech to give his opinion on the coordination of European representation at the IMF.

Dr Leech's speech on the ‘Voting Power Implications of a Single European Seat at the IMF’ considered how the introduction of a single European seat at the IMF must go hand in hand with a reduction in European quotas which determine voting power.
