New International Office Director Appointed

The Registrar is pleased to announce the appointment of James Kennedy as Director of the International Office from 1 September 2008.

After an early career in teaching and teacher training in Asia and Africa, James spent twenty-five years in a variety of international management jobs working for the British Council in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. He joins the University from the position of Director of the British Council in Russia.

A graduate of Exeter and Edinburgh universities he is qualified as a teacher of English to speakers of other languages, and holds an MSc in Applied Linguistics.

Academic Registrar, Nicola Owen, commented: "we are delighted that James is joining the University and bringing his extensive experience to bear on an exciting internationalisation agenda at Warwick."

James remarked: "I have known of Warwick’s high international profile for over twenty years, and I am delighted to be joining the University as it enters a challenging new phase of building its global reputation. I am looking forward to working with the experienced and dedicated team in the International Office, and with the University’s unique network of international representatives around the world. Warwick has an enviable reputation for the high quality of its teaching and research, and I am excited by the prospect of working with the many excellent academic departments to ensure the University develops its full international potential."

In the interim period before Mr. Kennedy’s arrival, the Academic Registrar has asked Edward Harcourt to be Interim Director and Helen Johnson to be Interim Deputy Director as of 1 June 2008.
