Professor Chris McConville, of the Department of Physics, has been awarded the British Vacuum Council's John Yarwood Memorial Medal and Senior Prize 2007.

The prize is awarded every two years for "distinguished contributions to British Scientific research in the fields of vacuum science, surface science or thin films in which vacuum science and engineering play an important role."
