The Royal Society of Literature has announced the shortlist for the 2013 RSL Ondaatje Prize, including Dr Sarah Moss, Creative Writing Tutor in the Department of English & Comparative Literary Studies at Warwick.
The £10,000 RSL Ondaatje Prize is in its tenth year. It is awarded annually to a book of the highest literary merit – fiction, non-fiction or poetry – evoking the spirit of a place.
Sarah Moss is one of six shortlisted writers for her work: Names for the Sea (Granta)
The judges commented:
Moss gives you a series of marvellous insights into Iceland without any of travel writing’s usual narrative tricks and tropes – but by writing honestly and intimately about her family’s life there.
