EC appoints Vice-Chancellor to key Innovation Institute

Vice-Chancellor Professor Nigel Thrift has been appointed, by the European Commission, as a member of the Governing Board of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). His appointment commenced on 21 July 2012.

EIT is a key element of the Europe 2020 Strategy and of the forthcoming Horizon 2020 EU research and innovation programme. The EIT's mission is to promote growth and competitiveness through innovation.
