Captain James Smyth’s (pictured left with Stephen Essex) team then lost 2.5:1.5 to the European Business School, Oestrich-Winkel/GER in the match play round and reached a final 8th place in the tournament.

Approximately 100 University golfers from 26 Universities from 10 countries and three continents, quite a few under par-scores, perfect weather and one of the leading golf courses of Germany made the tournament a great success.

Student Matchplay is hosted and organised by 7 students from the Catholic University of Eichstaett-Ingolstadt in their spare time.

Stephen Essex, a physics PhD student and Warwick Golf Society President was named 2006 Tournament Ambassador and this year the squad’s professional conduct and sportsmanship was remarked upon.
