Classical Association appoints Warwick classicist as its president
Warwick classicist Dr Michael Scott is helping a sixth former to set up her own branch of the Classical Association, the youngest member to ever form a branch since it was established in 1903.
This is the latest branch of the country’s largest organisation for the promotion of classics.
Dr Scott has agreed to be president of the newly formed Lytham St Annes branch, set up by 17 year old Katrina Kelly.
Katrina, said: “We are confident that with the support of Dr Scott and all the inspiring lecturers who have agreed to be part of the inaugural programme, the first year of the LSA Classical Association will be a great success.”
Dr Scott, added: "It is an absolute delight to be president of the Lytham St Annes Classical Association branch. This organisation does incredibly important work in connecting people with what is going on in the study of the ancient Greek and Roman worlds.”
He continued: “The Classical Association support schools around the country so that students continue to have the opportunity to learn about these cultures, which have had such a massive effect on our world today.”
