Want to volunteer? Find out more…

Warwick Volunteers provide opportunities for students and staff at the University to volunteer and help groups in the local community. They currently have links with around 60 local organisations from across Coventry and Warwickshire, some with ongoing projects, others looking for occasional volunteers.

On Thursday 9 October (Week 2) Warwick Volunteers will take over the Ground Level of Students’ Union South (Cooler, Market Place, Grumpy John’s) with stalls from groups and projects looking for volunteers and offering volunteering opportunities.

“A large number of people say they would like to volunteer, but very few know exactly what opportunities are available or how to join in” says Gill Burrows, Project Development Worker for Warwick Volunteers. “The Volunteers fair on Thursday will showcase many of the opportunities available to potential and existing volunteers.”

45 local organisations will be present on Thursday to explain more about opportunities on wide and diverse projects, from painting and decorating to student mentoring.

Last year Warwick Volunteers had 550 members. After only 4 days into the new term, they have already signed up around 160 new members. Their aim is to reach 1000 volunteers this year, including both staff and students.

If you would like to find out more about volunteering in the local community, and the training provided by Warwick Volunteers, why not visit the fair between 11am and 3pm next Thursday.
