Suspension of AUT 'action short of a strike'

Originally Published 29 March 2004

On Thursday 18 March, at the annual conference in Scarborough, AUT members voted to suspend industrial action and open a ballot following clarification of the orginal offer by the employers. This means an end to the four and a half weeks of AUT ‘action short of a strike’.

AUT members will suspend their boycott of student assessment and examination activity until the results of the four-week ballot are clear.

The news has been welcomed by the Universities and Colleges Employers Association (UCEA) as a step in the right direction.
