International Office Highly Commended at Times Higher Awards

The University?s International Office were highly commended at the Times Higher Education Awards on the 15th November. Staff in the International Office were honoured in the Outstanding Support for Overseas Students award and were particularly praised for the range and scale of its support services for international students.

The International Office?s support programme has a 97% satisfaction rating from its international students and includes course and immigration advice, guidance in a student?s home country, an orientation programme on arrival and more.

Whilst the International Office provides training in cultural awareness for the University?s other front-line staff, the role of the IO is to work within the University?s network of student support teams/ services to help students from the moment they first enquire through to post-graduation support.

An essential element of their provision is the University?s network of 20 overseas representative offices. In many cases these are run by the University?s own graduates who know Warwick well, visit regularly, and provide free expert advice and support to any student at any point in application process, whether or not the student has applied via the office.

The awards took place on Wednesday 15 November at the Hilton Hotel, Park Lane, London. Also in attendance at the event were Deputy Vice-Chancellor Stuart Palmer and Registrar Jon Baldwin.
