An Introduction to the Warwick Global Energy MBA
from the Academic Director, David Elmes.

A new Global Energy MBA starts at Warwick Business School in May and two scholarships are available for 2009 entry.

Businesses are also being encouraged to sponsor the new MBA which has been created to meet the rising challenges of increased demand for energy, the need to switch to alternative resources and the growing concerns of climate change.

The Global Energy MBA will bring together people from a wide range of sectors focused on the industry, combining their experience with WBS's world class teaching and research to develop the industry leaders of tomorrow.

The scholarships are awarded on a merit basis to those applicants who will bring outstanding experience to the class as well continue to be succesful ambassadors for the MBA following their graduation.

All applicants who are self-funded and not in receipt of any other scholarship or sponsorship will be automatically considered for one and duly informed if successful. The deadline for applications to the MBA is the end of March.

There is also the opportunity for businesses to sponsor MBA candidates who can enhance their awareness of the global energy sector while building a deeper knowledge of their own organisation and its competitors..

The MBA programmes develop relationships with organisations where their employees' studies are integrated into the organisation's overall management development strategy and there are currently over 650 companies are sponsoring individuals or groups of students.

David Elmes, Academic Director of the Global Energy MBA, said: "Secure, reliable, affordable energy is seen as essential for economic growth and stability. Yet the world's energy industry faces unprecedented challenges in meeting demand while addressing the causes of climate change.

"The Warwick Global Energy MBA combines the study of management skills offered by the Warwick MBA with a focus on the issues and opportunities of the global energy industry.

"It's a part-time programme combining study here at Warwick with blended learning so that people have the flexibility to fit in with their work schedules. Candidates will leave our programme with the leadership skills and critical understanding of the industry to help them and their organisations seize the opportunities ahead."
