Information Evenings for Postgraduate Programmes in Teaching

The Warwick Institute of Education is hosting two information evenings later this month for prospective students interested in pursuing a career in teaching.

On Tuesday 24th February there will be an information evening for those interested in taking a Graduate Teaching Programme (GTP) and on Thursday 26th February there will be an evening for those interested in Masters and Doctorate programmes.

The Institute of Education is a leading centre for teacher education and educational research and was ranked 8th in the UK in the most recent Research Assessment Exercise. Its research strengths stretch from work in early childhood to lifelong learning, via work in schools, colleges, early years settings and local authorities.

The GTP is intended to broaden the nature of the workforce in teaching by providing an employment-based route into the profession. The GTP particularly suits 'career changers' by allowing trainees to be employed as an unqualified teacher at a school while working towards the standards all teacher trainees must meet to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

The event starts at 6:30pm and pre-registration is essential by booking a place.  Further information will be sent out on receipt of a booking.

The Masters and Doctorates Information Evening is for those thinking of developing subject expertise or those who would like to gain new management perspectives. The Institute of Education offers flexible routes to Masters qualification; stand alone Postgraduate Awards and Certificates and research degrees.

The event will start at 6:00pm in the Westwood Lecture Theatre on Westwood Campus, Institute of Education, University of Warwick. To book a place use the online booking form.

WIE will also be holding PGCE Taster Days in March on the following dates:

The above days are for those people who would like to find out whether teaching is for them and how to go about applying for a PGCE Secondary course.  For more detailed information on these events visit the PGCE website.
