Student wins Guardian Media Award

boarWarwick student Leo Robson won the student critic of the year award at this years Guardian Student Media Awards. The award was presented in association with NME, and judges (including Caitlin Moran and Conor McNicholas, editor of NME), described Leo as a critic of serious intent.

The awards were presented at a ceremony in London in November by T4 presenter Rick Edwards. Other judges included Guardian editor Alan Rusbridger, broadcaster Andrew Neil, Grazia editor Jane Bruton, Five News presenter Natasha Kaplinsky, and Heat editor Julian Linley.

Leo writes for Warwick student newspaper The Boar, which received an impressive total of eight nominations for the awards. The annual awards have been running for 27 years, and cover categories such as student photographer, student reporter, website, and small budget publication. Past winners have included former editor of the Financial Times Andrew Gowers and former Heat editor Mark Frith.
