The University’s Summer Degree Ceremonies will take place from Monday 19 to Friday 23 July 2010. The Summer Ceremonies are a celebration of our students' successes and achievements and, with two ceremonies each day, will see around 3,500 students graduating from the University.

The ceremonies will take place in the Butterworth Hall in the Arts Centre. As well as celebrating student successes, 12 honorary degrees will be awarded to distinguished men and women who have made important contributions to cultural, intellectual, social, economic or political life.

This year, recipients include former Home Secretary Baron Baker of Dorking, Regius Professor of Medicine at Oxford and Fellow of the Royal Society, Professor Sir John Bell FRS and Trade unionist Baroness Brenda Dean of Thornton-le-Fylde. Each honorary graduand is presented by an orator, who will deliver a short citation about the achievements that have led to the award of the degree.

The Warwick Awards for Teaching Excellence (WATE) will also be presented at this year’s ceremonies. The WATE awards give staff and students the opportunity to recognise and celebrate excellence in teaching and the support of learning at Warwick.
