TEDx Warwick '09
Europe's first ever TEDx event is taking place at the Warwick Arts Centre on Saturday 28 February. Modelled on the TED (Technology, Entertainment and Design) conferences held in California every year, TEDx Warwick '09 will host a collection of the world's most inspirational thinkers.
TEDx Warwick '09 is a free event independently organised by Warwick students and officially licensed by TED to bring "Ideas Worth Spreading" from fascinating speakers to communities around the world. The theme for this year's event is "A Changing World" and tickets are available at the Warwick Arts Centre box office from Wednesday 11th February.
Amongst the speakers are Professor Philip Zimbardo (famous for the Stanford Prison Experiment), Francois Grey (Head of IT Communications at CERN) and Solitaire Townsend (UN taskforce on Sustainable lifestyles). A complete list of speakers is available on the TEDx Warwick website.
Attendees will hear about:
* Grid Technology, Citizen Cyberscience and the Large Hadron Collider
* The Hidden Earth
* The Secret Power of Time
* The Heroics of Imagination
* Selling Good: Three marketing strategies that can save the world
* Ancient Links: Science and Religion
* Virtual Reality
TED held its inaugural conference in 1984 and has since evolved into a premier ideas and opinions sharing forum where leaders in any field can convey their most recent, cutting edge views and innovations, each of them challenged to deliver their big ideas in just 18 minutes.
The 25th edition of TED took place in California earlier this month, featuring presentations from Bill Gates, Tim Berners-Lee, Herbie Hancock and Daniel Libeskind.
