Research Computing RSEs

We are a team of Research Software Engineers (RSEs) within Research Computing which is part of the Research Technology Platform (RTPs). We work with colleagues in several Faculties, Information and Digital Group, The Library, Research and Impact Services, amongst others. We mainly engage with researchers in the Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences and their associated research centres to enable internationally excellent research by providing software engineering expertise, support and training to researchers. We’re here to help you access the support and solutions that you need. You can find some of the research projects that we have worked on here.

Dr Godwin Yeboah's background is interdisciplinary in nature cutting across research software engineering and the application of geospatial technologies in research or teaching (current role), SHAPE (Social Sciences, Humanities and the Arts for People and the Economy) (PhD and past/current roles), computer science (MSc), geoinformatics and photogrammetry (MSc), geodetic/geomatic engineering (BSc), and industrial experiences in software/geomatic engineering. Prior to his current role, he worked in two Warwick research centres (IGSD and CIM) as a senior research fellow where he led the development of geospatial research methods (including co-leading academic teaching) and worked with researchers from UK, Kenya, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Pakistan, Cambodia, Malawi, Australia, Ghana, Spain, Netherlands, and Germany. Prior to joining Warwick, he worked in several roles in the UK (Researcher), Germany (Software Engineer), and Ghana (Geomatic Engineer and Lecturer). He is passionate about interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research. He is a member of the Society of Research Software Engineering, a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, British Council UK Panel Member on Social Sciences (2015-2020), RSE-Midlands member, academic track scientific committee member of State of the Map Europe 2023 conference, and associate editor of the ISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information. Most of his research works are listed on ORCID from which some have received an invitation by UK Parliamentary and Scientific Committee as well as won the prestigious Jack Dangermond Award. He has made significant contributions to several research projects funded by UKRI and NIHR, notably, as co-investigator on IDEAMAPS and to an NIHR-sponsored project developing innovative geospatial methods for digitally mapping informal urban communities across Asia and Africa. He is a trustee of the Society of Research Software Engineering.

Dr. Sarah Roggendorf

Senior Research Software Engineer

Email: sarah.roggendorf@warwick.ac.uk

Sarah joined the Research Computing RSE team in early 2024 and is working on several projects across the Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences. She has a background in research in computational maths and engineering and her work has always included a substantial amount software development. Prior to her current role she held two postdoctoral positions in Cambridge (Department of Engineering, 2021-24) and Bern, Switzerland, (Mathematical Institute, 2019-20), and completed her PhD in Applied Maths (Numerical Analysis/Scientific Computing) at the University of Nottingham in 2019.
