Workshop on Parallel Computing in R
This two day event (14th - 15th of March 2022) will introduce users of the R programming language to parallel computation in the context of high performance computing (HPC) clusters. Participants will be introduced to running R calculations via the command line, creating parallel computing workflows and executing these within a batch processing HPC environment.
Participants will gain hands on experience with the Sulis tier 2 HPC service which specialises in high-throughput and ensemble computing. We are keen to make Sulis a valuable resource for the R community.
A tentative programme for the workshop is available.
Venue: Radcliffe Conference Centre, University of Warwick
Registration is free. Lunch will be provided on both days at the workshop venue but participants will need to organise overnight accommodation either on campus on in the local area. Those wishing to participate in the hands-on element of the workshop will need to bring a laptop from which to access the Sulis system.
Places are limited to 30 participants. In the event of over-subscription we will prioritise applicants from groups under-represented within the HPC community.
The workshop will be delivered by Dr Michael Schubert with support from Dr Heather Turner and the Sulis tier 2 HPC team.
The event is funded via the UKRI Digitial Research Infrastructure Programme (phase 1).
