Equipment Sharing Fund

The Equipment Sharing Fund allows researchers, PhD students and Research Technical Professionals (RTPs) to access cutting-edge research equipment, not available in their home institution. Funds cover the cost of initial analysis, helping to strengthen collaboration opportunities and ensure value for money within the UK’s research and innovation ecosystem. The fund opens for three rounds and will provide the full economic cost (fEC) or TRAC rate directly to the facility. Celebrating 10 years of the RTPs

Wednesday 18 September 2024, 9:30am – 12:00pm – In-person event

Location: FAB0.03 Lecture Theatre - Faculty of Arts Building

About the event

The Research Technology Platform (RTP) Department is hosting an event to celebrate 10 years of the RTP programme.
We invite members of the University to join us as we showcase how the RTPs have grown over the past decade and
facilitated innovation in research and development at Warwick and beyond.

About the RTPs

Warwick’s RTPs provide an integrated network of world-class facilities and expertise that enable researchers to
perform outstanding science. In 2024 we are celebrating 10 years of the RTP programme, which has grown
from 5 RTPs when it first started in 2014, to 13 RTPs and 70 dedicated staff members today.
The RTPs are open to access for researchers across the University as well as external clients from industry and academia,
supporting innovation at regional, national and international scales. Each RTP is operated by a dedicated technical team
who are experts in their fields and provide bespoke advice, analysis and training. Visit the RTP website.

Expanded Flurolog Capabilities

WUCS' Flurolog has received a new detector which will allow for time-resolved photoluminescence across the mid-IR range. This detector increases our ability to measure time-resolved data across the whole detectable spectrum on our Flurolog (290-1600 nm). To use this equipment in your studies please contact Jack our platform manager, to discuss about your needs.

Optical pump, terahertz probe spectrometer

The optical pump, terahertz probe spectrometer is up and running! Thanks to Maurizio and Mick for their hard work on the setup for this beamline and for testing it. Currently we can pump between 2.5um and 9um wavelengths, and shorter wavelengths will be available soon. Samples can be measured in vacuum with the option for cryogenic temperatures also to be implemented soon. The conductivity dynamics can be probed up to 3ns after photoexcitation.

Tables Installed!

The laser tables for the new WCUS facility have now been installed. It took a whole day to move all three or four tonnes of optical bench, but they are all in the right place and to the design. Next step - laser installation.
