Cancellation Terms

I have accepted my offer of campus accommodation, can I cancel my accommodation contract?

Once you have accepted your offer for campus accommodation by signing your accommodation contract, you will benefit from a five day cooling off period from the date of acceptance. This means that you can change your mind and cancel your accommodation during the five days that follow your acceptance of the accommodation.

If you wish to cancel during your cooling off period, you must email your request for cancellation to accommodation@warwick.ac.uk noting your seven digit Warwick ID number and reason for cancellation. Please note that if you collect your room key and check in to your accommodation, your five day cooling-off period will immediately and automatically end.

If you do not cancel within your cooling off period, you remain liable for the rent for the whole length of the tenancy unless you find a suitable replacement student who is not already in a contract with Warwick Accommodation or cancel in line with our cancellation terms.

I've signed a campus accommodation contract, what happens if I do not join Warwick or I withdraw after arriving?

In order to be eligible for accommodation on campus students are required to have registered full-time student status. For example, if you have signed an accommodation contract and subsequently you are unable to commence study and join Warwick due to not obtaining your immigration permission, deferring for the full year, withdrawal or not securing your place at Warwick, you would no longer have registered full-time student status. In such cases, you would be released from your campus accommodation contract.

If after collecting your keys you withdraw permanently, temporarily or withdraw to restart you would also no longer be eligible for accommodation on campus due to not having registered full-time student status. In such cases, you would subsequently become ineligible for campus accommodation and you would be required to vacate your room. You would be released from your accommodation contract from the later of:

1/ The date of your withdrawal

or

2/ The date you vacate your accommodation and complete an early departure form

If your student status changes and you no longer have full-time registered student status, you must contact us at accommodation@warwick.ac.uk.

A reminder of your legal obligations

Accepting your accommodation contract creates legally binding obligations between the University and you as the Student. It is therefore important that you read your contract, understand and agree to the terms contained within it before you make a commitment. Please remember that when you accept and enter into an accommodation contract, you are signing a legally binding document and are required to pay the accommodation charges for the length of the contract unless you cancel in line with our cancellation terms.
