Julia Lohmann
Julia Lohmann was born in Hildesheim, Germany, in 1977. She studied at the Surrey Institute of Art and Design (BA Graphic Design, 2001) and the Royal College of Art (MA in Design Products, 2004).
Julia’s practice investigates and critiques the ethical and material value systems underpinning humans’ relationship with flora and fauna. She has been the recipient of many awards and bursaries and her work is held in major collections, private and public, nationally and internationally. In 2013 she was designer in residence at the Victoria & Albert Museum, where she established the Department of Seaweed which explores the use of seaweed as a design material.
