Martin Eldridge

Martin Eldridge is a painter and print-maker who trained at Newcastle-upon-Tyne University from 1963-66 (BA Fine Art) after which he was awarded a one-year Bunzi Travelling Scholarship. From 1969-72 he attended the Royal Academy Schools (Post Graduate Certificate in Painting) followed by an Italian Government artist scholarship, 1972-73.

Much of his work has been inspired by his travels, including trips to India, Sri Lanka and Mexico; he works on oil, pastel, watercolour and mixed media featuring landscapes, coastal and mountain scenery as well as contemporary urban subject matter. His printmaking practice employs monoprinting as well as etching, the former medium being used to capture atmospheric images of rugged scenery.

Eldridge has regularly exhibited at UK venues, including the Royal Academy, the Mall Galleries, Bankside Gallery and New Grafton Gallery in London and at the RBSA, Birmingham, Oriel Gallery, Newtown , and Portico Gallery, Manchester, among others.
