Rich, Mary

Born 1944, Helston, Cornwall, UK

Mary Rich trained at Bournemouth College of Art between 1957-61. She then went to work with Harry and May Davis at the Crowan Pottery. The Davis's had met at Bernard Leach's pottery in St Ives; they married in 1938 and set up the Crowan Pottery in 1946. In 1962, they emigrated to New Zealand and established the Crewenna Pottery. Mary Rich then went to work with Bernard Leach's son David in Bovey Tracey, Devon. In 1962 she started her own studio in Falmouth and then in 1970 opened a pottery in Old Kea, near Truro where she continues to work.
