Prue Rowe-Evans

Born: 1921. Died: 2005. Nationality: British.

Prue Rowe-Evans was born in London, the daughter of David Lowe, the celebrated political cartoonist. She studied at the Slade School of Art with the intention of becoming a book illustrator but the intervention of the Second World War, when she served in the WRAF, and a subsequent move to Hong Kong, caused her career to take a different turn. She first took up stage and costume design and after her return to England started painting again. The landscape has been an abiding source of inspiration in her work.
