WAPTE: Eligibility criteria
WAPTE eligibility criteria
Are you planning to nominate a member of staff for the Warwick Awards for Personal Tutoring Excellence (WAPTE)? Make sure you read the eligibility criteria first.
Who can be nominated?
Any member of the University's staff who has had responsibilities as a Personal Tutor during the previous academic year may be nominated.
Criteria
We are looking to recognise student support which has made a significant difference to students this year.
We welcome nominations from students, staff and also joint student/staff nominations.
We encourage nominations which reflect specific support work for students and colleagues.
We also invite shorter nominations based on the criteria below. Nominations should address both criteria but do not need to address all bullet points.
Nominations should address the following TWO criteria:
- Enhance the student learning experience through personal tutoring. For example:
- Engaging students in ways that inspire a commitment to their personal learning and employability development, to enhance their learning experience.
- Actively engaging with broader university support and development opportunities which underpin academic support, referral and signposting excellence.
- Recognising and actively supporting the full diversity of student academic needs.
- Champion personal tutoring at the departmental level. For example:
- Offering advice, resources or mentoring to others in personal tutoring roles.
- Supporting students to build peer and other support mechanisms within departments.
- Supporting colleagues to develop strong student support and engagement.
- Contributing to wider initiatives which facilitate personal tutoring and student learning support.
