SiteBuilder release notes

SiteBulder 2.529 released

We released SiteBuilder version 2.529 on Monday 9th January 2023. In this version, we:

  • Fixed a bug that caused unnecessary empty space to appear in the preview when converting pages with right-side content to the Components Editor.
  • Added a new block layout option containing two equal-width blocks to the Components Editor. This enables you to add two equal-width columns to your page without needing to edit the block sizes of a 2:1 block layout, for example.

    SiteBuilder 2.528 released

We released SiteBuilder 2.528 on Wednesday 4th January 2023. In this version, we:

    • Fixed an issue that caused date pickers to be cut off when contained in a small pop-up. Date pickers now always appear full-size, and will overhang the pop-up if necessary.
    • Improved the speed that changes are applied when editing permissions for large numbers of pages.
    • Improved notification emails for Forms pages to include the submission ID for individual submissions, to make cross-checking of submission data easier.
    • Made the following changes and improvements to the Components Editor:
      • Updated misleading text on the confirmation button that appears after selecting Preview and confirm when converting a page with detected accessibility issues. This now reads Continue to preview and confirm. The previous version of this button gave the impression that the page would be published, rather than previewed.
      • Updated text to clarify how to add accordion components to a page. This component can be found under Add Special Features > Tabs/accordion.
      • Added the option to set a Number of tweets to show in a Twitter feed component. Note that doing so will disable the Height in pixels field, and set the component to a standard height.
      • Fixed a bug that caused copied and pasted content to display incorrectly when used to replace everything in a component.
      • Fixed an issue that prevented users from using custom text in a campus map link. Prior to this fix, map links in Components Editor pages had to use the target location's name.

    SiteBuilder 2.527 released

We released SiteBuilder 2.527 on Monday 19th December 2022. In this version, we:

    • Fixed an issue that meant the pop-up for map links was impractically small.
    • Added an option when copying pages to copy This page, its direct children and all files under those pages. When conversion of homepage layouts is enabled, this will be useful for users who want to create a copy of a layout and the subpages and files providing its content. You will then be able to convert the copy to the Components Editor and work on it over multiple editing sessions without affecting the live page. Once completed, you'll be able to use the Copy page contents functionality to overwrite the live page with your copy, converting it to the Components Editor in the process.
    • Enabled the Contents list, Gallery, Tags filter, and Textile page types as Components Editor templates.
    • Reduced the number of emails received by users who are signed up to notifications of page changes. Specifically, users are no longer notified when a page's permissions are changed.

    SiteBuilder 2.526 released

We released SiteBuilder version 2.526 on Wednesday 7th December 2022. In this version, we:

    • Fixed a bug that affected the Tabs component on some Components Editor pages. In cases where these pages had not been edited since the release of version 2.525, only content on the first tab could be accessed.
      • Note: Prior to this fix, the issue was resolved on most affected pages by re-publishing them. This may result in IDG staff members' names appearing in the edit history of affected pages, but no content has been altered.
    • Solved an issue that caused images to appear the wrong size when editing a page after converting it to the Components Editor.
    • Continued to work on the new Bookings page template. When this is available, we'll provide a detailed summary of the changes on the SiteBuilder noticeboard.

    SiteBuilder 2.525 released

We released SiteBuilder 2.525 on Thursday the 24th of November. In this version, we:

    • Fixed a security issue that affected links where the URL contained a group of 3 slashes (///). For more information about internet safety, see the University guidance on how to combat phishing.
    • Fixed a bug that prevented the Email the page contact link working on the Access refused page displayed to visitors without permission to view a given page.
    • Added a site setting to make the Components Editor the default when creating a new page. This builds on a previous change which made the Components Editor the default for all new pages created directly beneath an existing Components Editor page. The site setting is available on the Edit site properties screen, via the Current site tab, which appears for users with admin permissions on the site's homepage. When users create a new page, they can choose to create it as a Classic editor page instead.
    • Made the following improvements and changes to the Components Editor:
      • Fixed a bug that prevented components from displaying properly while editing a custom template created for, or converted to, the Components Editor.
      • Added the option to make Tabs components display as Accordions. You can enable this option in the settings for a new or existing Tabs component by selecting Accordion in the Display as drop-down. You can also specify which item (if any) is expanded by default, and whether users can expand multiple items at once.
        • Note: This change required existing pages using Tabs components to be re-published. This may result in IDG members' names appearing in the edit history of affected pages, but no content has been altered.
      • Improved handling of images when converting pages to the Components Editor. Any images that opened in lightbox on the old visual editor version of a page now continue to do so on the converted version. Note: in the old visual editor, images are set to open in a lightbox via the Insert image as thumbnail option.
    • Continued to work on the new Bookings page template. When this is available, we'll provide a detailed summary of the changes on the SiteBuilder noticeboard.
