Accelerating life sciences startups
Life sciences entrepreneurs have the opportunity to apply for startup support through two different accelerator programmes this autumn.
Oxford Biotech’s flagship business plan competition, Biostars, is open to postgraduate and MBA students, academics, industry professionals and other aspiring entrepreneurs.
Successful applicants – either teams or individuals – will be invited to join the competition, getting access to OB’s network of contacts and mentoring through the initial startup stage. Running alongside the competition is OB360, a weekly seminar series which offers insights into different aspects of starting a business in the Life Sciences.
Also launching in October is OneStart 2016, an accelerator programme for life sciences startups run by SR One, the independent corporate venture capital arm of GlaxoSmithKline. OneStart will provide 35 selected teams education and ongoing business mentorship from industry leaders and 10 finalist teams the opportunity to pitch for £100,000 in non-dilutive funding.
A number of launch events are being held for this competition, which is open until 1 December 2015. Click here for details of UK events.
