Warwick Ventures Shum Prakash Graduates with Flying Colours

Warwick Ventures Ltd Business Development Manager, Dr Shum Prakash, has recently been awarded a prize for the best overall performance in 2011 on her graduation from Warwick Business School (WBS). Shum, who joined Warwick Ventures in 2001, obtained the highest overall average mark for the year and was awarded the prize by Professor Nigel Piercy, Associate Dean for Masters Programmes, at a WBS Awards ceremony following graduation. Shum undertook her MBA from 2007 to 2010 on a part time basis and graduated with distinction.
WBS, the largest academic department of the University of Warwick is in the top one per cent of global business schools. It is the first in the UK to gain accreditation from the premier management education accrediting bodies in the USA, Europe and the UK.
Shum received a bursary from the Sainsbury Management Fellowship in the Life Sciences towards her MBA study, one of only three students to receive the award in 2006. The Sainsbury Management Fellowship Scheme in the Life Sciences, funded by the Gatsby Charitable Foundation, is a prestigious award which supports life scientists of high career potential.
Shum has over 10 years experience as a Business Development Manager at Warwick Ventures and specialises in commercialising innovations in the areas of life sciences and software. She has started spin-out companies, developed early stage innovations to proof of concept, and has completed a number of successful venture capital investment and licensing deals.
On receiving the accolade, Shum commented “It was a wonderful surprise to be presented with the award.
