Warwick Ventures’ Chief Operating Officer, Kevin Marks, was a runner up in this year’s PraxisUnico Impact Awards, which recognises achievement in knowledge transfer activities.

Kevin was nominated in the KT Achiever of the Year category, which recognises individuals who have demonstrated outstanding personal effort which has significantly contributed to successful knowledge transfer projects within an institution

Warwick Ventures works to commercialise research produced at the University of Warwick, working directly with both academics and industrial partners. The University has an excellent reputation for scientific research and Warwick Ventures has proved a very effective catalyst for turning that into innovations that offer real benefit to society.

Despite having joined Warwick Ventures just three years ago, Kevin has been instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of the organisation as it spun out of the university to become a limited company in 2010.

He has also been highly successful in pursuing university technology commercialisation projects. His work with Anvil Semiconductors, a spin out from the School of Engineering, for example, has seen the company launch its first major funding round less than two years after its launch.

Warwick Ventures’ CEO, Quentin Compton Bishop, says: “We are delighted to be associated with this year’s PraxisUnico Impact Awards. Kevin has made an outstanding contribution to technology commercialisation at the University of Warwick. His enthusiasm and experience in tackling commercial projects make him a vital member of the very strong team we have here at Warwick Ventures.”

The awards were presented at PraxisUnico’s annual conference and award ceremony, held in Southampton. The winner of the 2012 KT Achiever of the Year award was Dr Sonja Vujovic, at Edinburgh Research and Innovation
