Two University of Warwick spin out companies have been shortlisted in the New Energy and Clean Tech Awards 2014.

Anvil Semiconductors, spun out by Warwick Ventures in 2010, is developing silicon carbide-based materials and devices for use in power electronics. Anvil’s technology means that, for the first time, silicon carbide can be used as a more efficient, cost effective alternative to traditional silicon-based devices.

Warwick Ventures was also responsible for spinning out the second shortlisted company, Recycling Technologies, in 2011. Recycling Technologies is commercialising a technique for recycling mixed plastic waste that was originally developed at the University of Warwick.

The New Energy and Clean Tech Awards, now in their seventh year, recognise companies and individuals that are playing a key role in shaping the future of green energy and clean tech industries.

Both companies are shortlisted in the University Spin Out of the Year category. The winners will be announced tonight at a ceremony held in London.
