Data Centres and Communications Rooms Service
About us
We design and maintain the University campus data centres and communications rooms. This includes cabling, racking, power, and associated backup services such as redundant supplies, UPS (uninterruptible power supply) and mains fail generators – plus monitoring of cooling, humidity, door access, security, flood detection and fire detection.
Our team manages the relationship between IT Services and the Estates Office in all aspects of the services provided by them, such as power, cooling and fire/flood detection/suppression.
We design, maintain and install, using third parties where necessary, the following to the data centres and communications rooms:
- Server/network equipment racking systems
- Power supplies and UPS systems
- Cooling systems
- Security systems (door access, CCTV)
- Cabling systems
Also, we act as the central contact for fault reporting and resolution (managing third parties where necessary) for all of the component services.
Service availability
The framework contractor provides a 24-hour emergency call out service for faults which affect critical services i.e. fire and security. This is invoked using the ITS major incident process.
