Copy files to another page

In most cases, if you want to use the same file on more than one page, we recommend linking to the original file. However, there may be situations where you need to duplicate files from one page on another without moving or deleting the originals.

  1. Browse to the page where the files you want to copy are located.

  2. Go to Edit > More:

The SiteBuilder 'Edit' menu, with the 'More' option highlighted

  3. On the the Files tab, select the required file(s) in the list, then the Copy button:

The 'Files' tab in SiteBuilder, with a file selected and the 'Copy' button highlighted

  4. You see the Copy files screen:

    The 'Copy files' screen

  5. Enter the path for the page you want to copy the file to in the New location box. This is the part of the page's URL after https://warwick.ac.uk.

  6. If required, alter the copied file's New file name and New short title.

  7. If you want to Show new file in local navigation, select the checkbox. This will display the file as a link in the page's local navigation bar.

  8. Use the drop-down list to change whether the new file will Allow search engines.

  9. Select whether the file's Permissions will change using the drop-down list. Note that the option you select applies to all the files you're copying:

    • Keep current settings: Copied files will have the same permissions settings as the original version.

    • Remove view permissions from copied pages: View permissions for the copied files are removed, meaning that they cannot be viewed by users without higher-level permissions. Other permissions are not affected.

    • Replace permissions - copy from new parent page: All existing permissions (including Edit and Admin permissions) are removed, and the files inherit the permissions of their new parent.

  10. When you're happy with the copied file's settings, select Copy file.
