Move a page to a new location

When you move a page, every sub-page and file below it moves with the topmost page. Moving a page does not rename existing links in your body content. Therefore, it's best to check for broken links after moving a page.

  1. Browse to the page you wish to move.

  2. Go to Edit > More:

The SiteBuilder 'Edit' menu, with the 'More' option highlighted

  3. On the Current page tab, under the Manage page section, select Move this page:

The 'Current page' tab, with the 'Move this page' link highlighted

  4. You see the Move page screen:

    The 'Move page' screen

  5. In the New URL box, enter the path of the new parent page you want to move your page under. The path is the part of the URL after - for example, to move a page under the IDG home page, you would enter:

Alternatively, use the page picker to browse to and select the new location.

  6. To automatically redirect visitors to the New URL, select the Forward requests for... checkbox. Doing so inserts a forwarding page at the old location and prevents visitors seeing a ‘page not found’ error message.

  7. Choose whether to Allow search engines to index the page by selecting an option from the drop-down menu:

    • Keep current settings: The moved page and any pages or files under it which are currently set to display in search will continue to do so, and those which are hidden will remain hidden.

    • Hide renamed pages in searches: The moved page and all files and pages under it will be hidden from search results.

    • Show renamed pages in searches: The moved page and all files and pages under it will be shown in search results.

  8. Use the Permissions drop-down list to set the view permissions for the page and any files or subpages under it after moving:

    • Keep current settings: Pages keep their current permissions

    • Remove View permissions for renamed pages: Hides moved pages and files from users who don't have edit or admin permissions.

  9. Select Move page. You see a confirmation message with links to view the page in its new location, or return to the edit section for the old location's parent page.
