Overview:
This session will provide an overview of how impact is defined and how to apply it in your research. Often this is about identifying and learning to communicate the impacts that a project already demonstrates. The session will include a presentation with a discussion with Impact Managers to learn how impact metrics are developing. For Early Career Researchers, the session will also discuss how impact affects your career development.

Who should attend?
University of Warwick Research Active Staff (staff on Research-focussed, Teaching-focussed and Research & Teaching contracts). In particular, the session will benefit Early Career Researchers (ECRs) looking to expand their understanding of impact and its effects on their career progression.

Organisational Development do not accept applications from postgraduates or research students. Students should refer to the Student Career and Skills website for details of workshops designed specifically to meet their needs.

Workshop enables Research Active Staff (RAS) to:

• To explore ways of defining impact goals and establishing suitable evaluative measures.

• To create a discussion forum with Impact Managers.
• To equip Early Career Researchers with better understanding of how to engage productively with impact to benefit their career development.
• To explore effective ways of communicating the value of research.

Workshop Pre-work:
Participants are asked to bring a 4000 character (approx. 500 words) abstract about their research
The abstract should aim to address two key areas:
1. Who might benefit from your research?
2. How might they benefit from your research?
Delegates are requested to bring their laptop, ipad, pen and notebook to actively participate in the session.
